A Humble Beginning:
In 1998, with only a few families, the Muslim Community of York PA opened Masjid At-Tawheed in the basement of a small apartment building located at 699 W. King St. This humble beginning could accommodate approximately thirty worshippers and after two years was no longer adequate for the still small growing Muslim community.....
A Step Forward:
In December of 2000, Masjid At-Tawheed moved to an abondoned store front located at 9 S. Belvidere Ave. This new facility provided enough space for up to approximately 100 worshippers and served the needs of the Muslim community in York for the past seven years. However the lack of adequate space for classrooms, no parking and overcrowding have led the Muslims in York to look towards a goal for the future.....
A Goal for the Future:
The Muslim community in York has recently purchased a building that they hope to make the future home of Masjid At-Tawheed. This 14,000 SF building located at 549 W. Market St. in York has enough space for separate prayer areas for men and women, several classrooms for our Islamic weekend school, a larger library and parking The Muslims of York are eager to move forward with their plans, but need your help.....
Many renovations are needed before this property can be used as a Masjid. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the initial phase of renovations. This will allow us to replace the roof, finish the musalla area and install wudo stations for men and women.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi was salaam) said, "Whoever builds a Masjid for Allah, Allah will build for him a similar place in Paradise." (Sahih Muslim 7110)
